To be honest, I really poo-pooed the idea at first and was simply intrigued when the topic was part of a seminar.
And to be perfectly honest, I didn't want to read something that contradicted with my beliefs. I have a BA in Biology and am a Christian, so I didn't want something so "New Agey" that would go against years of training for Biology or try to sway me from my Christian beliefs.
I'm glad I started this though. I'd like to say I kept an open mind, but I probably didn't when I first started it. Truman did a very good job of explaining the biology at the beginning, and also wove faith throughout the book no matter what faith you follow. I found the tools very applicable and useful. She not only explains how this works, but why it works and how to use it.
It's now one of my most-referenced books that I use. I disagree with that, as I know from personal experience that the negative feelings I have experienced have come in the last few years from very recent traumas. I did not have buried alive feelings until recently.
But regardless of when the feelings were experienced, they ARE buried alive and never die Feelings Buried Alive and Never Die is a great title, as it personifies what is really happening. She takes deep, almost ineffable concepts, and phrases them in a way that really clarify feelings I've had. The way she explains things makes a lot of sense and gave me many "Ah-Ha" moments.
I got more help from this book than countless hours of therapy could ever have done. I have worked as a mental health professional for twenty years.
For the past nineteen years, I have referred to this book when clients with severe mental health problems present with medical problems. The book is on target ninety-nine percent of the time! I don't know how the author made the connections, but they are quite accurate. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is smart enough to realize that releasing unresolved negative emotions can only led to a happier life. Think about it, don't you want to feel happy?

Was really excited about this after several people had suggested it to me. I honestly feel a little disappointed. I didn't really find any ah-ha! It was written in a strange way that made it harder to sit and read through. First off, the whole text of the book is written in purple instead of black.
It was just too much. It made the message harder to come across and although it had some good ideas, even after the fact it was just ok, nothing amazing. A must read for anyone with chronic illness or close to someone sick.
The end is quite helpful when the author summarizes similar emotional attitudes tied to most common chronic illness. I've been testing out the theories on people I know are sick by saying I'd like to ask them a few questions most have about five or six I've referenced said section quite frequently although halfway through all other chapters, in fact I think I'll get back to these reviews and go read this now! In fact I think I'll read it again since Candida albicans have overtaken my mind like a vicious army and it hasn't been mine, but seeing great great great grandmother specimens slain and exiting MY body like dead victims being retrieved like the cleaning up of bodies from fields of slaughter from an epic battle literally inches in length I'm now believing I've been "living" or they have been rather, for many many years longer, possibly back to abuses from days before I could form sentences.

The script is really what makes this book great and she goes in to detail on how to make good use of the script it self. However I must admit I dislike the fact that in parts of the book she just tells you to read her other book instead of telling you how to do things.
I do not like buying a book and then having information withheld unless I buy another book. So this is why I can only give it four stars.
